Where There Is No Vision, the People Perish

(Proverbs 29:18)
The Visioning Team’s work is ongoing and the collaboration of the congregation is critical.  Last Sunday, the visioning provided a detailed update of the vision statement and the strategic priorities for the congregation.  The primary areas of emphasis include relationships, service and discipleship. As we pursue these goals, each member of the church will help determine our level of success.

The new vision statement for Christ UMC is “At Christ United Methodist Church, we are a Christ-centered, multi-generational community where all feel welcomed, loved, and equipped to follow Jesus.   We reach out to lead others to Christ, grow disciples, and serve together with purpose.  Honoring tradition and embracing innovation, we strive to be a place where God’s grace transforms lives and every person, belongs, serves and thrives.”

You are a critical part of the team that welcomes, loves, equips, and serves.  These are essential tasks and some may feel that they are not yet adequately prepared to fulfill these roles.  However, we will endeavor to help everyone participate in opportunities to develop and demonstrate these skills.  As disciples of Jesus Christ, we follow the example that Christ has placed before us to welcome the individuals and families who come to the Christ UMC campuses for worship, for growth, for assistance, for encouragement and more.

Over the coming months, we will share more details and updates about the ways you can participate.   Constant prayer will help us listen to the voice of God and help us follow the will of God.  We are appreciative of the enthusiasm that has already been exhibited by the congregation and the vision team.  Together we will experience the transforming grace of God.  Let’s go and let’s grow together!

In Christ,
